Hope Floats

Ericka Graham teaches on finding meaning within and around the seemingly mundane. There is great beauty and truth to be found in what appears at first to be ordinary, but may offer deeper insight into the ways we are called to presence with one another.

Text

Matthew 16: 13-20

1 Corinthians 6: 19

Acts 17: 27-30

“It's never been true, not anywhere at any time, that the value of a soul, of a human spirit, is dependent on a number on a scale. We are unrepeatable beings of light and space and water who need these physical vehicles to get around. When we start defining ourselves by that which can be measured or weighed, something deep within us rebels.  . . . we want to come home to ourselves. (p. 174-5)”

Reflection & Practice

It is easy to take for granted the beauty in the people, nature and vibrant life all around us. Take a few minutes to write down the names of some people you are grateful for. Consider some specific reasons you are grateful for them; write that down, too. Then consider a tangible way you can let them know how much you appreciate them this week.
