Pastor Chris Seay leads us in our continued journey through Advent as we anticipate the coming of Jesus. As we consider what it means to worship fully in this season; we are called to question the empires that we have made in our own image, and to joyfully turn them over to the one and true King, for whom we wait.

Reflection & Practice
Just as Herod felt threatened by Jesus’ arrival; most of us have things, be they status, resources, or conveniences, that we are hesitant, fearful, or unwilling to lay down. What in your life exhibits this kind of control over you?
As we seek to worship fully, we invite you into two ways to do that this week:
Continue to be prayerful about how you will be called to contribute to our Advent Conspiracy offering as a family, as we seek to give our best gifts to Jesus. Join us in those offerings during communion next weekend, and at all of our Christmas Eve celebrations. We would love for everyone to take part in some way as we seek to join in a great movement of love for those in need around the world through the vital gift of clean water.
As we seek to love and serve homeless students in HISD, we invite you to join our coat drive (LINK). Contribute new/gently used coats (sizes 4T-18) in the bin located in the sanctuary at Elder by this Wednesday, December 19th, and/or join us this Friday, December 21st to serve with us in the morning as we distribute the coats and other resources to these families.
