The Power Of Our Stories

Pastor Sean offers up the redemptive works of Fyodor Dostoyevsky and shares insight into the power of our own stories. When we know and share our stories with others, it changes the way we engage with those around us.

TEXT

Acts 26:12-18

1 John 1:1-4

“…how could you live and have no story to tell?”

― Fyodor Dostoevsky, “White Nights”

“The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others.”

― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

“I do not know the answer to the problem of evil, but I do know love.”

― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

REFLECTION & PRACTICE

Sean offers these questions to consider:

What is my story?: How has the story of my life played out? What have I seen broken or redeemed?

Who do I need to share this story with? Is there someone that you are feeling led to share yourself with?

What is my story going to tell the world? When I have passed, what will be told about the story I lived?
