Colombia & Venezuela
For more than a decade, Ecclesia has partnered with leaders and communities along the Colombia-Venezuela border. In the wake of the recent earthquake, we're responding alongside trusted partners to provide food, shelter, medical care, and ongoing support to families affected by this crisis.
A Message from Pastor Chris
The people of Venezuela are not strangers to us.
For years, Ecclesia has been shaped by friendships with pastors, leaders, and families at the Colombia-Venezuela border. Together, we've witnessed hardship and hope, grief and resilience, and the quiet, faithful work of communities serving their neighbors in difficult circumstances.
Today, following the recent earthquake, those same relationships are calling us once again to respond with compassion and generosity.
Hear from Pastor Chris about the history of this partnership, why this moment matters, and how we can stand alongside our friends as they care for their communities in the days ahead.
COLOMBIA & VENEZUELA
A Partnership Built Over Time
Over a decade ago, the people of Venezuela were thrown into chaos through economic hardship, political unrest, and unbearable living conditions, forcing millions of people to leave their homes in search of safety and opportunity.
Through our friends at Vereda Church in Mexico City, we were introduced to a church near the Colombia-Venezuela border called Iglesia Cristiana Para la Frontera (Christian Church for the Border), a community faithfully caring for families crossing the border amid one of the largest displacement crises in modern history.
In March 2019, Pastor Chris led a team to visit the border. Standing at the Simón BolÃvar Bridge and witnessing the crisis firsthand, we encountered stories that were overwhelming—families carrying everything they owned, parents searching for stability, and children facing immense uncertainty. Yet alongside the hardship, we also encountered extraordinary resilience, generosity, and hope.
What began as an invitation to assist with relief efforts became something much deeper. Over the years, we've continued to partner with pastors and local leaders, serving displaced families through practical care, supporting the work of the local church, and building friendships rooted in mutual trust and shared faith.
These relationships have shaped us as a community. They remind us that the Church is global and that our brothers and sisters in Venezuela are not distant from us—they are our friends, partners, and family in Christ. In moments of both crisis and hope, we continue to stand alongside them, believing that we can accomplish more together than any of us could alone.
