It was wonderful to welcome back Ines Franklin to preach; offering a deep and encouraging reminder of the Holy Spirit not as a distant abstraction, but as a relationship as tangible in essence as the flesh-and-blood person of Jesus Christ. We are grateful for the simple truth, often forgotten, that the Spirit of God knows the way. May God help us to trust in that truth, even when it feels we are driving in the dark.
Ines serves as Teaching Pastor at Mariners Church in Irvine, CA

Reflection & Practice
Ines used the beautiful illustration of a field of sunflowers, which continue to orient themselves towards the light throughout the daytime hours; even preparing themselves overnight to greet each new sunrise. What practices would allow you to similarly reorient your focus through the course of your day? What has worked for others in your life that you might try on for a season?
Ines told the story of a harrowing ascent up a small mountain road, blinded by fog and rain, with only a small sliver of light to guide the vehicle. You may be in a season in which this image resonates with your experience. We invite you to pause this week with this simple prayer: God, you know the way. Help me to simply make the next step without worrying about the one that follows. Help me to trust in you.
