Houston Responds
If you would like to know how to volunteer in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, below are some opportunities hosted by our friends at Houston Responds.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer | Transport Supplies
We've received numerous requests to transport food, water and other supplies from a resource center to people and ministries in need. If you have a truck or vehicle with a large cago area, and are able to pick up and drop off supplies, please contact jeff@houstonresponds.org asap.
Volunteer | Chain-Sawing/Tarping
Immediate needs include chain-sawing and roof tarping, to secure damaged homes before rain comes this weekend, as well as some mucking/gutting. If you or your team has these skills and is able to volunteer, contact jeff@houstonresponds.org. As needs become more clear, and churches/organizations set up to receive more volunteers, we will share those opportunities.
Report Damage
Report damage to Crisis Clean-Up at www.crisiscleanup.org, where partners can claim cases and do the work. Partners must be 501c3 orgs. Churches can register directly or as part of Houston Responds. To register as part of Houston Responds, contact thomasina@houstonresponds.org. Also report damage to ISTAT, so authorities can track damage and allocate resources.
Provide Shelter/Cooling Center
There is an immediate need for more temporary shelters and cooling centers. If your church or organization is able or interested, contact Gisela Cinta of the Office of Emergency Management at GISELA.CINTA@houstontx.gov or thomasina@houstonresponds.org.
Our friends at Texans on Mission are also looking for volunteers to help cook and distribute meals!
Whether you can volunteer for one day or more, you can help deliver help, hope and healing to those impacted by Hurricane Beryl. This is also a great opportunity for your small group or Bible study group to volunteer together.
