Courses Team

Are you passionate about mentoring, teaching or being a facilitator? We are looking to launch a variety of courses in our community. Below are the open roles we are looking to fill. If you don’t see something that you’d be a fit for, but would be curious to explore a future course leadership role - email ryleavillarreal@ecclesiahouston.org

  • Summary of Role

Premarital Class Mentors are mature married couples who journey with engaged, dating, or married couples during our six week Premarital Course, which happens twice a year. The course is a balance of teaching times and round-table discussions which are facilitated by the Mentors. Rather than providing all the answers, mentors create space for meaningful conversation, prayer, and reflection, helping couples learn how to talk well, listen deeply, and discern faithfully together.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Be a witness of actively lived faith and marriage experience

    • Facilitate honest, thoughtful, and sometimes uncomfortable conversations and story-telling in a safe, grace-filled environment

    • Ask wise, discerning questions that help couples practice healthy communication and understand that the goal is formation, not fixing—learning how to talk, listen, and grow together

    • Listen deeply and without judgment

    • Holds stories and struggles with confidence and trust

    • Discern when to encourage, when to gently challenge, and when to refer a couple to a Pastor

    • Serve under the guidance of our Pastoral Team

    Frequency

    6 weeks during Course duration

  • Summary of Role

Course Facilitators are faithful community leaders with a gift and love for teaching and people. They lead with warmth and competence, creating space for others to learn, be real, and grow together. Facilitators don't need to have all the answers — they need to be good group guides. Each Course is supported by a team of 2–4 Facilitators who share the load and model what it looks like to learn in community.
