Book Groups
Spring Book Groups
Hello! I'm certain this will be a season of growth and change within whatever study you chose. There are several women who've worked hard to bring you a variety of studies, in what we hope are convenient locations for you. Above all else we're beyond thrilled for the memories created and relationships formed.
All of these books can be ordered on Amazon.com and are pretty reasonably priced. If you or someone you know would like to attend but financially are unable to attain a book, please never hesitate to let me know, we will take care of you without question.
Read through the descriptions of studies below and consider in which you'd like to participate. From there, simply contact the leader of the group and for any further questions or concerns, you can always connect with me liz[at]ecclesiahouston.org
Have a fantastic time!
1. This Will Be Remembered Of Her: Stories Of Women Reshaping The World by Megan McKenna
"Who and what we remember is a revelation of who and what we are and hope to be." -Megan McKenna.
Throughout history, women are the family memory keepers. It is up to women across the world to pass along the stories and heritage of their ancestors. In McKenna's book, from an idea rooted in Mark's gospel with the unnamed woman who anointed Jesus with oil, we will recount stories of various women helping their families remember. We invite you to a relaxed evening of fellowship and memory making!

2. This I Know: Notes On Unraveling The Heart by Susannah Conway
"Part memoir, part creative journal, This I Know chronicles Susannah’s journey through bereavement and healing, taking the reader on a ride into the possibilities of unravelling — and healing — her own life too. It’s a guidebook of sorts, a collection of thoughts and theories, with creative exercises for you to try, and dreamy light-filled Polaroids dotted throughout the text. It’s a cosy blanket for your heart." (Amazon.com)
Group leaders: June Weston (stately.weston[at]gmail.com)
Group will meet near Wesleyan and Buffalo Speedway, please contact group leader for specific location and directions.
Begins Tuesday April 9, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. and will continue for 8 weeks
3. Letters From A Skeptic: A Son Wrestles with His Father's Questions about Christianity by Dr. Gregory Boyd
The book, as the title suggests, is a transcript of letters between a son and his atheist father, tackling some of the most pertinent and fundamental questions of faith and the Bible: why is there so much suffering; is hell truly a just end; why does an all-powerful God need worship and love; how can we trust the accuracy of the Bible; and many more. We hope this group will be a place where we can come together to address the tough questions--both those in the book and others we have personally--and grow in our faith through honest exploration and open discussion. We certainly won't be able to answer every question, but we hope this group can be a starting point for wrestling with the rational dimension of our faith, and learning how to share that faith with others.
