Everything we do in the Children’s Community is centered in the belief that children don’t need to be prepared to be part of the larger church, someday—they already are, and they add beauty and richness to the wider community that continually humbles and teaches us. Children remind us what it means to wonder and bask in the beauty of a God who cares to come so close to us as we make ourselves quiet and still and come so close to Him. 

 

In light of this, we do not see children as empty vessels waiting for us to fill them with information. Instead, we see our task as being one of creating and holding an environment within which children feel safe and loved, and are able to interact with God in a way that comes very naturally to them, engaging body, soul and mind. This environment welcomes a spirit of reciprocity as adults and children learn from each other and wonder together at the beauty of the stories of God and His people.
