As we gathered to welcome the new year, our guest teacher Sean Palmer addressed diversity and division; inviting us to consider how we weigh our convictions, the giving and receiving of truth spoken in love, and the need to gain perspectives that differ from our own.
Text
Mark 10: 17-23
Reflection
Who in your life can literally say anything to you; truth spoken in love? With whom can you deepen a relationship that would allow for this kind of compassionate accountability on both sides?
To gain greater understanding of the unique life experiences of those with whom you differ, how might you seek out opportunities for new and challenging perspectives? Think of someone to invite to share a meal with the intention of simply listening.
