Advent from one parent to another
Today's post is written from one parent (me) to another.
It is intended to draw us into a conversation of how we create space in our families this season for Christ, how we create new traditions that help us breathe in the season, and how we conspire together to do the season differently.

This past Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent. And it marks the journey we begin towards the birth of Christ. At Ecclesia we use this time to also consider spending less, giving more & worshipping more fully. Here is the Advent Conspiracy Video that helped to start it all. Give it a watch if you haven't already, or if you have because it is always a good reminder and has been updated for the year.
Approaching the season of Advent with our children and specifically making an attempt to simplify the season so that our families can live into the beauty of the season more intentionally is something many of us have felt pull at us. Many of us felt this tug before we ever came to Ecclesia, and many of us simply felt it resonate once we arrived and saw it clearly articulated. But this approach strikes a cord in our community, espesially with our families. And although how we each translate that into our families can be different, it helps to have a group of families to journey with. Espesially when the tide to grab our kids and get them asking for more and more is so great.

So I encourage you to ask questions, I encourage you to talk with other families about their traditions. Gleem inspiration and support each other in a radically simple approach to the season. Your family will find the slowing down instead of speeding up begins to feel right.
If you have any questions about Advent, Advent at Ecclesia or Advent Conspiracy... I would be happy to meet you to talk or would be happy to answer an email.
Light a candle tonight to honor this week in our Advent Journey together.
